On August 11th last year, I hit the publish button for the first time. I know my bloggy birthday has passed but I consider the whole of August 'birthday month'!
I look back on my first post now and realise that I have come such a long way! Part of me is a bit embarassed by that post - especially the terrible photograph - but I'm proud too because it was the start of something that I love doing.
When Sew Delicious started, my main audience was my family. My Pa read every single post, and then we would discuss it everytime I saw him. He passed away in December, but I still write as if he is reading it. Now I think my male readership is down to two. Hi Dad! And hi Trev (husband) who has created a Sew Delicious app on his phone so he can check in on me!
Here are what I consider some of my favourite posts and projects -
The Peggy Skirt. One of my first ever and most popular tutorials. Anna still fits into it, still wears it, and I still get wonderful feed back from readers who have made it and loved it.
My Baby Gift Zipper Pouch. My friend Vanessa still uses this bag for her little boy Sam who is nearly one now! Honestly, I think the fabric choice is what made this project stand out for so many, but it remains popular and I think a good beginner zip pouch project is a must for anyone who sews!
My DIY clothing labels tutorial. The most popular post I've ever published - by a mile! I had such an amazing response to this post, I was quite overwhelmed and really excited.
My Tohoku Tote. I made this as part of Ucreate's 'Create With Me' series last year. I'd never made a bag before and I learned a lot during the process. It became a bit of a milestone project for me in terms of my sewing skills and my confidence.
What is a birthday without presents?? I am having a fabulous giveaway tomorrow to say thanks to my wonderful readers for your support, encouragement and just generally extending your friendship to me over the past year. I have made some wonderful friends through blogging.
Due to the nature of the prizes, tomorrow's giveaway will be open to Australian residents only - but my international friends, do not despair, I will have something for you very soon!
Congratulations and happy bloggy birthday!!!! x
