This post is way overdue - I actually made this jacket in October last year. I bought the pattern and was so excited about it, and made it straight away...and then summer hit and Anna hasn't worn it - until now!
In Melbourne you really need a warm jacket in winter and I was finding that many jackets in the children's clothing stores were too thin and had no lining. When I was at a quilting show last year, I purchased the Make It Perfect Uptown Girl Pattern. The pattern suggested using two different quilting cottons lined with pellon for a reversible jacket, but for this one I used quilting fabric on the outside and a snuggly polar fleece for the inside.
The fabric is called Mermaid Garden Spots and I picked it up in the bargain bin at Spotlight for $6 metre. What a great buy, and I just love the colours in the print.
The pattern was very easy and came together so well - I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting something lovely for their little one for winter. There is also a boy's jacket in the Make It Perfect pattern range called the Downtown Boy. My friend Lyndelle bought that and made a gorgeous jacket for her little boy Liam.
So bring on winter - Anna will be toasty in her Uptown Girl Jacket!

Cute! You're one clever Mama! I'm currently doing a bit of winter sewing for my kids... trying to decide whether to make hoodies with zips or a button at the top similar to yours - tending towards button. Are you joining in with Elsie Marley's Kids Clothing Week challenge next week? x Jen
