I've been playing with my scrap basket lately and enjoying a bit of small scale patchwork. I've been meaning to try the Open Wide Zippered Pouch by Anna from Noodlehead for ages, then one day I just did it, then I made another, then another. I might be addicted.
First up I cut some 2.5" squares and made a couple of quilted panels using some aqua and pink scraps. Once I made the panels, I cut the lining to match the panel size and used the Open Wide Zippered Pouch Tutorial from there. So this one is quite a bit smaller than the the dimensions in the tutorial. Doesn't matter though - you could use any rectangular sized panels.
Next up was this one for my friend Jenny, who has just welcomed her new gorgeous baby, Pipi Grace. It's always nice to give a new Mama a gift I think - after all she has done some seriously amazing work to bring that new baby into the world! I sent some patchwork bibs to Pipi and this pouch to Jen. I used this beautiful Agapanthus fabric by Yardage Design that I've had in my stash for ages just waiting for the right project.
And finally yesterday I was itching to do something but it needed to be a small project that I could whip up during Lucy's nap time, so I made this fun patchwork version. Again, loving the pinks and aquas as a colour combo! This was just a random project, I ran out of aqua thread half way through, so my quilting stitches are different colours, and if you look carefully, straight lines are not very apparent! Haha - who cares because I love it!
My friend Catherine has recently sent me some delicious parcels with some lovely scraps inside - these Pam Kitty Morning button panels were from her, as well as the other pink print. All the aquas are left over scraps from a quilt I just finished that will be auctioned for an Ovarian Cancer fundraiser. Pics coming!
I am sure I will make more of these Noodlehead pouches in the future. They are a quick fun project and make great gifts. Have you made one?
