About

Welcome, I'm Ros. This blog documents my sewing adventures. I live with my family in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia.

I started sewing in 2010, mainly for my two daughters, and it's been a work in progress ever since. I'll give anything a try, and I think I'll always consider myself a beginner. I'm not sure what my style is, it's always evolving, but if I had to describe it, I'd say colourful and modern.

I sew on a Janome 419S - a very basic machine that I bought second hand on eBay. It hasn't missed a beat and has been a great little workhorse. My overlocker is a Janome 744D. My sewing space is a corner of my dining room, you can see it here.

When I'm not doing the school run, grocery shopping, laundry, or singing Frozen medleys with my 3yo, I also love to cook, read books, try other crafts, read blogs and decorate fun cakes for family and friends. I currently work part time as a medical receptionist at a radiology clinic.

You can also find me on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter and Google +.

Email me at roslynruss{at}gmail{dot}com.

My work has been featured in magazines and on some great sites, including:

Homespun Magazine April 2014 issue - details here.

  1. Kudos, Lenny Kravitz is not bad for a first gig, it'd pass the RocKwiz test I think. Mine was NKOTB, embarrassing for a long time, but now so bad it's cool again. And yay for permanent Ikea sewing space. Hurrah! Melbourne is better than Sydney. Agreed. Great 'about'!
