I'm loving summer dresses at the moment. It appears Anna will soon have a wardrobe so full of dresses she'll grow out of some before she wears them... lucky we have Lucy waiting in the wings to grow into them!
My mother in law gave me a gorgeous stash of 1/2 metre cuts but unfortunately I have no idea what this particular fabric is called (if you recognise it, let me know - I'm pretty sure its from Moda). With only half a metre I had my work cut out making a size 2 dress, but with some creative additions I think it works!
I cut two pieces for the skirt first then used the left over material for the front part of the bodice. The inner front bodice was 2 scraps sewn together then cut, but because its hidden no one will be able to tell! After that my half metre was done, so I used some bright yellow polka dot for the back bodice. Love the butterfly buttons - they tie in perfectly with the main fabric!
I wanted to incorporate the yellow fabric into the front of the dress somehow, so I made some sweet little yo-yos and embellished them with some bright buttons to tie in with the other colours.
And there you have it! I call it the Happy dress - it is so bright, just looking at it makes me feel happy. Can't wait to try it on my little model!

This is definitely a happy dress =) I like your combination of fabrics. The pop of yellow is adorable.
