Catching Up

Ahem. It's December. How did that happen?

Although in some ways I'm thrilled that the year seems to have disappeared in the blink of an eye. My husband is still working over in Europe (he left in August). He is home in 16 days and 21 hours...not that I'm counting.

Lucy insisted on wearing this dress last week - she has grown so much it is tunic length and she has to wear leggings.

Creative time has been at a premium and although I've been spending significantly less time online than I have in several years (probably a good thing) I'm finding other ways to engage the creative part of my brain. Listening to podcasts during my work lunch break, joining swaps, running my own swap again. Small projects are good right now but I'm ready to sink my teeth into a big quilt or other equally time consuming project.

Otherwise I've been reading a lot, watching old episodes of Ink Master and No Reservations, playing Candy Crush (oh dear god when will that addiction end?) and generally working hard to keep my house tidy, my kids in clean clothes and getting meals on the table. I figure most of the time two out of three ain't bad. When I hit three out of three I know its a really good day!

I just spent an awesome weekend in Tasmania with my friend Amy.  Food, shopping, relaxing, food, talking about sewing, day tripping, food. I barely took a photo. Some things are too good to look at behind a lens.

A year ago I didn't think she could have anymore attitude...then she started school!

Spending time away from the computer means I've had a lot of time to reflect on blogging. Do I still like it? Do I miss it? Should I keep going? Remain the same or have a change? I'm undecided.

  3. Woohoo! You guys deserve an awesome family Christmas after so long apart!
After my first year of blogging my conclusion is...it's addictive, it's fun, it's time consuming and exhausting! There's no right or wrong answer, I think you choose what's best for you - if you love it, do it. If you're over it, stop. Or just do it when you feel like it. But on a selfish note, don't stop - I love your blog! haha ;)

  4. You have done so amazingly well with hubby away for so long. Not long now :-)

  5. You're on the last leg of single parenting, Ros - just over a couple of weeks to go and then no doubt a very special family Christmas. I'll miss you if you stop blogging, but only you can decide how best to use you time - whether to blog or not. Maybe you'll feel differently when hubby comes home and life settles into a routine again. They do grow up quickly once they start school, don't they. And attitude - the best is yet to come.

  6. I like to read your posts, even though I rarely comment.
Having said that I have stopped blogging. I returned to work outside home a little over a year ago and in my transition and exhaustion, just stopped. I had intended it to be only for a short while but at about 15+ months it has kinda turned into a looming while. I miss it and still find myself dreaming up blog posts. I still document the few projects ready to blog... just haven't spent the time doing the typing etc. I like the connection it provides and would like to find a way to keep it up - or at least a way to share projects and ideas, or even just to show and tell of the things I make.
I shall await to see what you decide will work best for your needs.

  7. Selfishly, I truly enjoy your blog and would be sad not to follow along, but you're the decision maker and have a very full mommy schedule. It's been a long slog for you since August. Perhaps things will look a bit different when your family is all together again. In any case, Happy Holidays, Ros!
