Dachshund Love - fabric design by me!

Late last year I really wanted to have a go at designing my own fabric using Spoonflower. Spoonflower is a website where you can upload your own designs and create custom made fabric. Awesome.

I am not overly artistic. So I stuck with something simple and a topic I love. Dachshunds. Aka sausage dogs or weiner dogs. Are they not the best dog breed EVER!

Here is my sweetie, Pharlap, when he was a pup.

He is a long haired dacchy so he is much shaggier these days, as you can see in this post.

So inspired by him, I designed this fabric and I named it "Dachshund Love".

I took advantage of a two for one fat quarter sale and I created two different colour ways. I am just waiting for the right project to come along so I can use some of this fabric!

Another brilliant Spoonflower project I have seen is by my friend Jodi from Art By Wiley. She turned a family recipe into gorgeous tea towels and gave them to all her family members for Christmas.

You can see the full story of Jodi's tea towel here. You could use the same idea to showcase your kid's art projects! (There is the Grandparent's Christmas gift sorted!)

If you designed fabric, what would your fabric theme be?

  4. Love the Dachshund pattern - my Granddog is a long-haired dachshund looks like yours. I would love to get some of that and make baby burpies with it. My daughter and son-in-law will be trying to start a family sometime either August or thereabouts and I want to get a jump on "Grandma spoiling" while I still have an opportunity to do so. I was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, so all time is precious to me. Please e-mail me and let me know where I might be able to get some of that same pattern material. LOVE IT!!! Thanks. 5. Love this! I have 2 short-haired red doxies. I agree, they are the BEST dogs!

And I definitely need to get over to spoonflower and design some fabric, that's awesome! :)
